Community Service

Throughout the year, there are many opportunities for students to become involved in community service options. All Grade 9-12 students complete their 40 hours of service that is required by the Ontario Ministry of Education to complete an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Our students engage actively with the community around them and advocate for important causes.

Volunteer options are available both on and off campus. On-campus options can include: Aftercare with Pickering College Junior School students, supporting the annual Pickering College Holiday Home Tour, helping to facilitate Springfest, and scorekeeping games. Students can select from a wide range of off-campus activities. Past examples include students volunteering as a spirit squad at The Terry Fox Run, assistant coaching for the Special Olympics swim team, being a Reading Buddy at the Newmarket Public Library, and supporting the elderly at various seniors’ residences.
