Food Service Committee reports on actions underway

Thank you to all the parents who provided comments and opinions about PC's food service via parents-ask@pickeringcollege.on.ca. The first comprehensive Food Service Committee meeting has taken place and the following actions are underway:

  • continuing with the five week menu cycle in 2010-2011 as it does allow us to provide variety, but in response to a number of requests, we will repeat a few of the students favourites a bit more often
  • investigating ways to increase the vegetarian options available
  • reviewing the "bag lunch" program specifically in support of our competitive athletes
  • reviewing waste reduction initiatives, for both packaging and food waste
  • improving the residential evening snack program
  • creating new flare and excitement to the weekly residential Family dinner, perhaps with some restaurant style options!
