Summer ESL Camp ESL Teachers, Contract Position: June 19-August 18, 2017

Under the direction of the Summer ESL Camp Director, the ESL Teachers are responsible for planning, developing, delivering and evaluating course curriculum for the ESL Summer Camp for international students ages 12-18. The Summer ESL Camp is offered in two four-week sessions (contract length is 9 weeks.) The ESL teachers are required to assess and evaluate students using a range of assessment strategies and tools applicable to English Language Learners. Candidates are required to hold a Bachelor of Education with ESL qualifications and/or TESL Certification from TESL Ontario, in addition to holding an Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualifications.This position requires excellent organizational, communication and problem solving skills.Our teachers must possess the following qualities: passion, compassion, expertise in their subject area, instructional expertise and curriculum innovation.

Summer ESL Camp Counsellors Contract Position: June 19 – August 19, 2017

Under the direction of the Summer ESL Camp Director and Assistant Director, Counsellors are responsible for overseeing the physical, emotional and psychological care and development of international campers ages 12-18. This requires supervising students both onsite and offsite, and ensuring that they have a happy and healthy experience. This position requires strong leadership, excellent organizational, communication and problem solving skills. Ideal candidates will have previous leadership experience (camp experience preferred) and must be pursuing post-secondary education. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with other cultures and languages (Spanish and Chinese preferred). Previous experience or training working with English language learners is a definite asset. Counsellors are required to live on campus for the duration of the ESL program and must be available to work evenings and weekends for the duration of the camp.

Associate Faculty - Ten Month Contract

This ten month contract position (August 28, 2017 – June 15, 2018) requires you to become fully involved in campus life, academics, athletics or arts, as well as play an integral role in the boarding program. As an Associate Faculty you will function as a part of a team reporting to the Director of Boarding and Health Services to ensure that Pickering College’s Mission Statement and Vision are put into practice. As a member of the boarding community you will supervise the activities of students, support extracurricular activities, teach and coach. In the day school, you will provide class coverage, supervision and program support. Successful candidates typically have experience as a teacher, camp counsellor or tutor, and coaching or playing the sports offered at Pickering College. Applicants must be energetic, enthusiastic, and have a genuine interest in working with young people. As a role model, healthy lifestyles and personal integrity are of paramount importance. This position requires you to live in residence.

Associate Director of Admission

Reporting to the Director of Admission and Marketing, the Associate Director of Admission is responsible for leading the work of recruitment, outreach, and file review of prospective students and is a vital member of the student recruitment leadership team. The Associate Director of Admission is a key contributor to the strategic planning for admission and enrolment management.

The Associate Director of Admission will be highly collaborative with faculty and other departments in the school, particularly the Communications Office, Business Office and Advancement Office. Within the Admission Office, key relationships include the Admission Associate Day and North American Boarding, the Admission Associate International Boarding and ESL Summer Camp, and the Admission Assistant.

This individual will work with the Admission team to develop and execute short and long term enrolment management plans using relevant research, data mining, demographics, and market analysis. The Associate Director will oversee admission operations including representing and articulating the school’s mission and vision at key on-site recruitment events and abroad to perspective families, agents, alumni and colleagues. This will include overseeing and interpreting database integrity and best practices.

This position requires excellent organizational, communication, problem solving and customer service skills. The ideal candidate has a University degree, preferably in Marketing or a related field, along with 5 years experience of admissions management, preferably in an independent school environment. The successful candidate will have a previous track record of management, leadership and strategic planning along with budget and revenue responsibility. Candidates must bring a strong work ethic and ability to deal with all constituents in a professional manner. Please note that this position requires extensive domestic and international travel of up to 10 weeks per year with trips ranging from 4 to 25 days in length.
