Language Arts, Mathematics & STEAM Enrichment Circles
Online enrichment circles will offer all students in Grades 1-8 the chance to join other learners their age to enrich important Language Arts, Mathematics and STEAM skills. Pickering College teachers will meet their students online once a week per subject to review important concepts and introduce new ideas which will give students academic confidence. In between live lessons, students will be provided with extension work to complete and bring to the next class. Live lessons will be small groups where students and teachers will work together to explore key concepts through interactive tasks and group activities. Students can take subjects separately or as a bundle.
Students in Senior grades will appreciate the opportunity to enroll in our online credits which are taught by our experienced online educators using integrative and inquiry-based teaching methods to capture student interest. Weekly synchronous lessons and multiple extra help opportunities allow students to interact with their teacher and check their learning in real time. Independent asynchronous tasks allow students to work at their own pace and organize their time in a way that works with their own schedule.
Campus Day Camps and Programs
Students in Grades 1-8 will have the opportunity to brush up on academic skills, engage in fun activities with other students and experience life on both our main campus and our outdoor education site while following physical distancing protocols. Students will choose Mathematics, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) or Language Arts themed weeks. All programs will feature key elements of the Pickering College experience such as skills for global leadership, outdoor education, radio broadcasting on our station 102.7 CHOP FM, community engagement, mindfulness, public speaking and prototyping.
