Online Enrichment Circles

Enrichment Circles

Students in Grades 1-8 will join other learners their age and reconnect with important literacy or numeracy skills in preparation for their next grade. Pickering College teachers will meet their students online once a week to review important concepts and introduce new ideas which will give students confidence for the upcoming year. Students will meet their teacher in small groups where they will work together to explore key concepts through interactive tasks and group activities. They will then preview independent learning items for the upcoming week, and have the opportunity to ask their teacher any questions they may have. This weekly session will keep learners connected to literacy and numeracy, and help students avoid summer regression in these important subjects.

Join us once a week for fun and engaging small group sessions with Pickering College teachers to sharpen reading techniques, discuss interesting texts and strengthen writing skills. Participants will share their personal interests and favourite stories for group discussion and tackle big questions together. Each week, students will read a popular and engaging text and then write a short response in the style of that text. Teachers will give guidance and encouragement to students. Teachers will also provide extension activities for students to complete independently in between sessions. This program is a must for any student wanting to make sure their language arts skills are sharp for September.
