The Little Forest Project

On October 8, Pickering College invited project partners, alumni, and members of the PC community to join our students at Blue & Silver Farm planting a little forest. 

A little forest is a small, densely-planted grouping of native trees. A area of land at the farm was prepared by layering cardboard and mulch with the help of students in the Sphere Program. Grade 11 Environment Science students then carried out a number of tests on soil samples from the site. They then planned out the little forest and led the planting day. 

The little forest will continue to serve as a tool for students to learn but also connect with the land.
