Dining in the Dark
As part of their SPARC project, the Design & Build group went to Onoir in Toronto, a restaurant where you dine completely in the dark. Students were able to briefly experience what it can be like to do go through life without vision, to help them as they develop games for people who are blind or have low vision.
Prior to their lunch at Onoir, the group visited their community partner CNIB to see the supports they offer at their GTA community hub. They participated in interactive activites including using braille typewriters, simulations using goggles to see what different types of vision loss can be like, and looking at existing games that have been designed or adapted for people who are blind or have low vision.
