RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Hilltop Summer Discovery Camp Instructors - Full-time, Contract (Mid-June to Mid-August)
Under the direction of the Manager, Auxiliary Programs and the HSDC Director, HSDC Instructors are responsible for planning and delivering engaging, meaningful, and dynamic activities for the Hilltop Summer Discovery Program (HSDC). There are three (3) vacancies for Day Camp Instructors during an 8-week contract period. There is one (1) vacancy for a Middle School Instructor during a 4-week period.
This position calls for a combination of creativity, leadership, and adaptability, as well as expertise in specific subject areas to inspire and guide campers through fun and educational experiences. Flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to connect with diverse learners are essential.
In addition to their primary instructional role, HSDC Instructors will take on broader responsibilities, including teaching specialty options, managing cabin groups, and supporting the overall camp environment.
This is a contract role during the summer, scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (including after care), Monday to Friday throughout the duration of the contract.

Global Leadership Camp Counsellor - Full Time, Contract (5 Weeks)
Pickering College is recruiting one (1) summer camp counsellor for our Global Leadership Summer Camp. The successful candidate must demonstrate an eagerness to become involved in this summer program. Our counsellors live on campus and are responsible for overseeing the physical, emotional, and psychological care and development of Global Leadership residential campers ages 11-17. This requires supervising campers both onsite and offsite, and ensuring that they have a happy and healthy experience. Counsellors will assist in the classroom, run after school activities for the campers including a variety of sports, arts & crafts, and games, in addition to supervising campers on excursions in Ontario.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Camper Supervision: Provide 24/7 care, guidance, and supervision for campers, ensuring their safety and well-being.

ESL Summer Camp Counsellors - Full Time, Contract (9 weeks) (7 Positions)
Under the direction of the Executive Director, Boarding/Camp and Health Services, Pickering College is seeking seven (7) Counsellors who are responsible for overseeing the physical, emotional, and psychological care and development of international residential campers ages 12-18. This requires supervising campers in the classroom, onsite and offsite, and ensuring that they have a happy and healthy experience. Counsellors will run after school activities for the campers including a variety of sports, arts & crafts and games, in addition to supervising campers on excursions in the local area and the GTA. ESL Summer Camp Counsellors are required to live on campus during the Summer Camp.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Camper Supervision: Provide 24/7 care, guidance, and supervision for campers, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Activity Leadership: Plan, organize, and lead fun, camp and co-curricular activities, games, and events.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other staff members to create a positive and inclusive camp environment.
- Overnight Support: Live on campus (in a single dorm style room) with campers, offering overnight assistance and maintaining a safe, supportive atmosphere.
- Camper Engagement: Actively participate in all camp activities, serving as a positive role model for campers.
- Conflict Resolution: Address camper conflicts and challenges effectively, fostering mutual respect and understanding.
- Behavior Management: Enforce camp rules and expectations in a fair and consistent manner as per the Camper Handbook.

Day Shift Custodian - Full Time, Contract
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities, we are recruiting for a full-time, temporary day shift Custodian to work Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The ideal candidate should be a responsible self-starter who is organized, able to complete all tasks with minimal supervision and within given time frames, as well as be able to work independently or in a team environment.
Pickering College is undergoing transformative change with the construction of a new learning building, West Lake House, planned to reach completion in the spring of 2025. Although, this is a contract role until the end of June 2025, there is tremendous growth potential beyond this date as we are growing our facilities team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In this role, you will be responsible for janitorial tasks (with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds), event/function set-up, minor repairs and preventative maintenance and security.
- Support custodian work throughout the main campus and support the expansion into West Lake House.
- Provide exceptional customer service to staff, faculty, students and constituents on campus.
- Respond to maintenance requests throughout the school and support additional tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and/or related work experience.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular scheduled hours and from time to time to cover other shifts when needed (weekends/holidays) and perform various job tasks.
- A working knowledge of modern janitorial methods and equipment.
- Ability to complete work of a physical nature including heavy lifting, walking for extended periods of time, shoveling snow and working as essential staff during inclement weather.
- Updated training on carpet and floor care and associated equipment.
- Ability to perform work with minimal supervision.
