Pickering College (PC) is recruiting a qualified Digital Communications Coordinator to work with members of the PC community to generate engaging and timely community communications on digital and print platforms in support of the strategic directions of the Communications Department, the Admission Office, and the school’s overall Strategic Plan. Reporting to the Communications Manager, this position supports ongoing communications projects and assists in keeping members of the PC Community informed and engaged as one of the school’s primary storytellers. This position has direct interaction with the Communications Manager and staff in Admission and Development. Important facets of this position include working with a variety of departments, faculty and staff.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Acts as a ‘roving reporter’ throughout the school community to generate relevant stories in support of the school’s communications strategy.
- Creates and maintains a number of calendars both for external and internal audiences with input from various school departments.
- Builds and maintains a robust editorial calendar for news items to be used on the website, e-newsletters and as digital content in social media.
- Generates on-campus photos and videos for use on social media and the school’s website.
- Executes and enhances the school’s digital media strategy with duties including managing the school’s website including AODA compliance and generating meaningful content across the school’s social media channels.
- Serves as the editor, liaises with departments and teachers to write, edit and produce PC Connects, a bi-weekly newsletter of school activities and programs that is distributed to staff, Senior School students and Pickering College families.
- Contributes to The Pillars magazine (biannually), the PC Report Card, and other school publications, as required.
- Proofreads school communications for errors of fact, style and grammar.
- Creates and designs content including videos, print materials, infographics, photos that help tell the school’s story and unique value proposition.
- Supports the school’s inbound and outbound marketing strategies, as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of communications experience, preferably in a not-for profit, agency and/or education setting
- Demonstrated experience in corporate or non-profit communications, preferably with a focus on digital strategy
- Post-secondary education in Journalism, Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or related discipline

Reporting to the Head of School, the Executive Assistant will provide administrative support to the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, Academics and the Board of Directors. In addition to providing day-to-day administrative assistance including correspondence, meeting minutes, travel arrangements, communications and calendaring etc. for the Head of School and Assistant Head of School, Academics this individual will assist in the coordination and execution of strategic school projects. This is a full-time 10-month position working mid-August to mid-June each academic year.
The Executive Assistant provides support to the Board of Directors and Board Committees including the coordination of all meetings, preparation and distribution of agendas and related materials, facilitation of travel as needed, and managing logistics related to room bookings, catering, conference calls etc. This individual performs the role of Board Secretary during Board and Committee meetings including the identification of action items and deadlines, and circulation of minutes for approval.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Administration, and a minimum of 5 years of administration experience preferably in a school and/or not-for-profit environment.

OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Boarding and Health Services, House Parents provide support to the boarding students and program. House Parents function, together with the House Directors and Boarding Dons, as a team to ensure that the school’s Mission Statement is upheld.
House Parents provide a supportive, caring environment where our students and summer campers can grow, develop and thrive both personally and academically. This position will nurture healthy relationships between our students through evening and weekend supervision, activities (planning and execution) and trip chaperoning.
The House Parent will provide an environment that promotes emotional growth, personal development and maturation. The House Parent is a responsible member of the boarding team. The House Parent is required to live on campus in a 12-month position in an apartment within the residence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as role models and mentors to the students/campers. They are to be available to offer support and encouragement to students as well as guidance and direction. They assist students to develop and grow in a caring community.
- Attend breakfast on a rotational schedule to check in students and do a sweep of the residences in the morning to ensure all students are in class.
- House Parents are required to work on a rotational basis to cover the residences in the evenings, overnight and weekends (including long weekends). They provide meal coverage for breakfast and dinner and provide on call coverage to the residences.
- This role is responsible for the overall health and safety in the boarding/camping community and overall programming for students.
- The House Parents are responsible for one Summer Camp Session each year, where they coordinate and oversee the summer camp program.

Reporting to the Director of Enrolment Management, the Associate Director of Admission is responsible for leading the work of recruitment, outreach, and file review of prospective students and is a vital member of the student recruitment leadership team. The Associate Director of Admission is a key contributor to the strategic planning for admission and enrolment management.
The Associate Director of Admission will be highly collaborative with faculty and other departments in the school, particularly the Communications Office, Business Office, and Advancement Office. Within the Admission Office, key relationships include the Admission Associates and the Admission Assistant.
This individual will work with the admission team to develop and execute short- and long-term enrolment management plans using relevant research, data mining, demographics, and market analysis. The Associate Director will oversee admission operations including representing and articulating the school’s mission and vision at key on-site and international recruitment events and abroad to perspective families, agents, alumni, and colleagues. This will include overseeing and interpreting database integrity and best practices. Please note that this position requires extensive domestic and international travel of up to 10 weeks per year with trips ranging from 4 to 25 days in length.

Overview:

OVERVIEW:
Pickering College is seeking a dynamic writer and researcher with fundraising experience to join our Development team as the Donor Relations Coordinator.
To be successful in this 18-month contract position, candidates should have a strong interest in education and fundraising with prospect research knowledge and familiarity with current trends in philanthropy, experience writing exceptional donor-centric materials, excellent organization and time management skills, and attention to detail. Candidates should also be comfortable collaborating with staff across the organization and can work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Reporting to the Manager of Annual Giving and Constituent Relations, the Coordinator will work closely with our fundraising staff to research prospective donors, and through reporting and research, help identify opportunities to advance donor relationships. The Coordinator will provide communications support for all fundraising programs, including writing donor-centric appeals, inspiring cases for support, donor impact pagers and reports, tailored proposals for major donors, and support promotions for stewardship and signature fundraising events. To support the department with building stronger prospect and donor relationships, the Coordinator will oversee a departmental engagement calendar, and an impact driven stewardship and acknowledgement calendar. Finally, the individual supports the department’s parent and alumni engagement programs by contributing to Pickering print and digital publications, preparing content for departmental webpages and alumni social media platforms, and providing event support as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In conjunction with Development Team members, creates and maintains an engagement calendar of parent, alumni, donor, and fundraising initiatives and the communications that support them, along with key school events and functions.
- Under the guidance of the Development Manager, writes and creates cases for support that inspire significant gifts targeted to specific outcomes and donor interests.
- Under the guidance of the Manager, Annual Giving and Constituent Relations, supports the annual fund by writing strategic, donor-centric digital and print appeals for the direct mail community campaigns, monthly giving program, Giving Tuesday campaign, and special interest group giving (such as Grade 12 Family Giving, etc.) that will help us reach our Annual Fund goal each year.
- Working with the assigned Primary Relationship Manager, prepares prospect profiles for major gift, planned giving, leadership giving, and event sponsorship, constituent profiles, material for briefing notes and event attendees.
- Executes and helps develop a dynamic stewardship calendar with a variety of written materials including cards, postcards, and special digital and print mailings to highlight donor investments in our mission and provide a steady and positive message of gratitude.
- Updates and maintains the annual stewardship letter inventory, crafting motivating and meaningful acknowledgements for donors at all levels.
- Maintains a portfolio of compelling stories that can be leveraged to illustrate donor impact.
- Prepares compelling and persuasive communications supporting fundraising, strategic events, and community awards (such as Class of 1842, 5th Pillar, Alumni Keystone Award, etc.).
- Generates content and updates the Parent, Alumni, and Donate pages of the website as well as the Parent Portal as required.
- Serves as the editor, liaises with Development Team members, departments and teachers to write, edit and produce Alumni Connects, a monthly e-newsletter, and the Thank You to Donors Report in The Pillars magazine.

This position requires broad knowledge of camp and outdoor education activities, excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills along with good communication and leadership abilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively supervise campers at all times
- Design activities, including crafts, games, sports and other camp activities
- Support Instructors and STEAM inquiry projects
- Lead games and activities as scheduled
- Interact with parents at drop-off and pick up
- Track attendance and screening of campers
- Manage behaviour within the camp group
- Supervise lunch groups
- Report incidents as needed
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Experience working with children is preferred
- Previous camp experience is preferred
- Ideal candidates should have completed or be pursuing secondary education
- This position requires the candidate to have current CPR and First Aid training.

Temporary, Part-time to Full-time 3-5 days/week
May 1, 2023 – September 5, 2023
Under the direction of the Store Manager, the Summer Student will provide exceptional customer service and sales information to our community in the Hilltop Shop and Bookstore. Responsibilities include sales, customer service, inventory receiving and tracking, product knowledge and data entry. We are seeking candidates who are friendly and easily build rapport with clients, and who have previous retail and customer service experience. Knowledge of the Pickering College uniform is preferred. You are flexible with schedules, responsible, take initiative and capable to pack, move and carry boxes and merchandise.
The work schedule is from May 1 – June 30, and then from July 24 – September 5, 2023 (approximately 24-44 hours per week). The store will close for holidays from July 1 – 23. The work schedule will include some long days, evenings, Labor Day and possibly a weekend.
Qualifications
- Computer literate, with a strong work ethic, demonstrated organizational and communication skills
- High school Diploma (or equivalent); Pickering College Graduate preferred
- Must be able to physically move merchandise around the school (including stairs) and lift up to 30 pounds
- Required to bend/twist/reach repetitively to move and shelve inventory
- Previous experience in retail is preferred

OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, Boarding and Health Services, Boarding Dons provide support to the boarding students and program. Boarding Dons function as a team to ensure that the school’s Mission Statement is upheld.
Boarding Dons provide a supportive, caring environment where our students can grow, develop and thrive both personally and academically. This position will nurture healthy relationships between our students through evening programming and weekend activities. The Boarding Don will provide an environment that promotes emotional growth, personal development and maturation and academic success.
The Boarding Don is an active member of the boarding team who lives on campus in the residence on a 10-month contract. There are summer opportunities in our ESL Summer Camp for those that are interested.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Attend breakfast on a rotational schedule to monitor students and check residences to ensure that students are up and ready for the day.
· Work on a rotational basis to cover the residences in the evenings, overnight and weekends (including long weekends).
· Provide on call coverage to the residences.
· Live in the residence.
· Meal coverage for breakfast and dinner.
· Attend weekly staff meetings.
· Maintain a safe and supportive boarding program.
· Act as a “Family Head” for a smaller group of students within the residence.
· Act as a communication liaison for faculty and parents.
· Communicate on a regular basis with parents and custodians.
· Communicate regularly with the boarding team members.
· Support the academic development of students as needed.
· Ensure a safe boarding community.
· Liaise with the Health Centre staff to assist with any medical care of students as required.
· Assist with the Pickering College Co-Curricular Program to provide coaching or club leadership each term.
· Support the students academically through evening study coverage in assigned areas: Math, Science, English, ESL, Writing Lab, Middle School Study etc.
· Perform other duties as related, required or assigned.

Overview:
This 10 month contract position (late August 2023 – June 2024) requires you to become fully involved in campus life, academics, athletics or arts. Under the direction of the Assistant Head of School, Academics and School Programs and the Division Directors, Supply Faculty provide support to the academic programs. Supply Faculty function as a team to ensure that the school’s Mission Statement is upheld. Supply Faculty provide class coverage as needed, on a daily basis.
RESPONSIBILITES:
Supply Faculty are expected to work as a team to support one another and the academic program and conduct the following:
· Attend breakfast daily.
· Get their daily teaching assignments, including tutoring and coaching.
· Attend assigned lunch and act as a “Table Head”.
· Attend staff meetings with the faculty as required.
· In an emergency, assist boarding by being on call during the day to cover emergency needs of boarding students.
· Coach a sports team or be staff advisor for a club.
· Chaperone school trips or sports teams as required.
· Work with a mentor teacher.
· Perform other duties as related, required or assigned.
· Assist with the After Care Program on a rotational basis.
