Emre Basaran '20, Turkey

Global Leadership Program Diploma with Distinction - Ontario Scholar. Recipient of the Steward Award, Widdrington Award, Governor General Bronze Medallion, College Scholar Award, Zetzl Science Award, English Subject Award, Mathematics Subject Award and Computer Science Subject Award.

Emre participated in a wide range of co-curricular activities including Field to Fork, Animation Club, Arts and Crafts, Cooking Club, and fitness. In addition, he served on the Boarding Council as Proctor of New House. One of Emre’s most favorable memories at Pickering College includes delivering his talk at the TEDx conference. Emre accepted an offer to continue his studies at the University of Waterloo in software engineering.

Miranda Cano-Rosales '20, Mexico

Global Leadership Program Diploma - Ontario Scholar.

Miranda has been a member of the equestrian and softball teams as well as the Get Active, yoga, fitness and After Care co-curricular programs. She is continuing her studies at the University of Texas, San Antonio in media studies.

Kae Ishikawa '20, Japan

Global Leadership Program Diploma with Distinction - Ontario Scholar. Recipient of the Widdrington Award. 

During her time at Pickering College, Kae was a member of the tennis and fitness co-curricular programs, Theatre Club and After Care. In addition, she performed in numerous drama productions and served as Head Proctor. She is continuing her studies in social sciences at the University of Toronto, St. George campus.

Daniel Jiang '20, Canada

Global Leadership Program Diploma with Distinction and Capstone Finalist - Ontario Scholar.  Recipient of the University of Toronto Book Award, Widdrington Award, Lt. Governor’s Community Volunteer Award, Mathematics Subject Award and Instrumental Music Award. 

Daniel has been an active member of the basketball, volleyball, badminton, and track and field teams.  In addition, he participated in the CIS Music Festival and served on the Music Council.  Daniel’s most memorable moment at Pickering College was his trip to Italy, while riding the cable car in Sorrento and sitting on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea.  He is continuing his studies in engineering at the University of Michigan.

Masha Kovtun '20, Ukraine 

Global Leadership Program Diploma with Distinction, Ontario Scholar. Recipient of the Steward Award.

Masha was active in athletics at Pickering College as a member of the basketball and ultimate frisbee teams. She was also a committed member of the Arts Council, Student Committee, and Social Committee. Masha is continuing her studies at Sir Wilfrid Laurier University in communication studies.

Hillary Krofchak '20, Canada

Global Leadership Program Diploma with Distinction, Ontario Scholar. DELF level B2. Recipient of the Joshua Weinzweig Creative Writing Memorial, Good Friend, and Widdrington Awards.

Hillary was actively involved in a number of leadership and athletic roles-as a member of the Debate Team where she was co-captain in Grade 12, the Critics Association and the soccer, badminton, and ski teams. She was also a member of our Jazz Band. Outside of school, Hillary was actively engaged in her community as a member of the Aurora Oak Ridges Richmond Hill Constituency Youth Council, Aurora Public Library Book Club, Reading buddy program and as a lifeguard. Hillary now attends the University of Waterloo where she is continuing her studies in the Computer Science program.

Alan Mao '20, Canada

Global Leadership Program Diploma - Ontario Scholar.  Recipient of the Canadian and World Studies Subject Award. 

Alan has been a valued member of the volleyball, badminton, ski and snowboarding teams.  He also participated on the Debate Team and served on the Student Committee.  His most memorable moment is drinking tea in residence with friends. Alan is continuing his studies in philosophy, political science and economics at the University of British Columbia.

Enzo Orlandi '20, Brazil

Global Leadership Program Diploma - Ontario Scholar.  Recipient of the Athlete of the Year Award. 

During his time at Pickering College, Enzo was very involved in athletics. He was a member of the Senior Boys’ Soccer Team, Senior Boys’ Basketball Team and Senior Ultimate Frisbee team. He is continuing his studies at Western University in management and organizational studies.

Yagmur Ozturk '20, Turkey

Global Leadership Program Diploma with Distinction - Ontario Scholar. Recipient of the Steward Award. 

Yagmur was a member of the volleyball team, Youth Action Organization, and Green Team. She was one of the TEDx lead organizers and served as a Proctor in Firth House. She is continuing her studies at McGill University in Arts.

Katherine Starr '20, Canada

Global Leadership Diploma with Distinction, Ontario Scholar. Capstone Pitch Winner.  DELF level B1. Recipient of the Widdrington Award. Valedictorian.

Katherine was an active participant in the Debate Club including serving as captain in Grades 11 & 12. Katherine also served on the Student Committee, was a Pickering College ambassador and a member of the Jazz Band. She was active in athletics as a member of the soccer, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee teams. She also participated in the Duke of Edinburgh program. Outside of school, she was engaged in her community as a volunteer at Southlake Hospital, a special olympics rhythmic gymnastics coach and a volunteer for the 100 Men Who Give A Damn organization. Katherine is continuing her studies at St. Francis Xavier University, in the Public Policy and Governance program.
