Meet the Team
There are a few new faces joining the Food Services team this year - thanks to everyone at Aramark for always putting such care into their work and our food. It is much appreciated!
Julie, Director of Food Services
Julie began her culinary career in British Columbia before joining the Independent School Division with Aramark 15 years ago. As a busy mom of two children, Julie can delicately balance the discerning palates of children with fine dining cuisine.
Developing connections with the PC community has been Julie’s main objective for the past six years. She aims to learn every student’s name while honouring each of their menu requests (within reason).
During the COVID-19 shutdown, Julie spent 70 hours completing a paint by number masterpiece, adopted a rescue puppy, and created cooking videos with her kids.
Rosario
Executive Chef Rosario’s culinary career began early on, inspired by his southern Italian roots and their love and respect for quality and tradition. Prior to cooking on the Hilltop, Rosario’s career brought him to France, Switzerland, Cancun, and Turks and Caicos Islands.
Chef Rosario’s food philosophy: Love and passion in every dish and color through presentation.
During the COVID-19 shutdown, Rosario played LEGO and cooked with his sons. Together they made fresh ravioli, pizza, gelato, and breakfast cakes.
Andrew
Sous Chef Andrew brings 10 years of experience to the kitchen. Andrew’s food philosophy is “good food takes time” and his love of food is apparent in his cooking! During the COVID-19 shutdown, Chef Andrew enjoyed gardening, building a deck, making friends with woodland critters, and kayaking.
Molly
As the catering supervisor (pre-pandemic), Molly was the mastermind of events. Presently, Molly oversees our new meal delivery model as the production supervisor. Naturally talented, Molly has gifted the PC community with her original Junior School Tuck Shop treats, and her creative innovation to catered events. Molly and her family share the love of baseball, skiing, and cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes. During the COVID-19 shutdown, Molly got a puppy, gained the trust of a chipmunk, and learned how to make bread.
Uma
Uma brings 12 years of culinary experience to the team. This mom of three boys understands how to feed teenage boys and her nurturing spirit comes through at work. Uma loves interacting with the students, and those personal connections make her long commute worthwhile. During the COVID-19 shutdown, Uma tended to her beautiful gardens.
Wei
With 17 years of experience in professional kitchens, Wei brings a wealth of culinary knowledge to the PC culinary team. Wei is not only efficient with a knife, but he is also extremely friendly. A devoted family man, Wei loves taking care of his family by rising early to prepare all the daily meals before his family awakes. During the COVID-19 shutdown, Wei enjoyed spending time with his family and taking long walks every morning.
Loretta
Affectionately known by the students as the ‘Snack Lady,’ Loretta has been cooking breakfasts, making creative snacks, scratch made soups, and decorating birthday treats for 14 years at Pickering College. During the COVID-19 shutdown, Loretta spent her time baking and crafting handmade puppets.
Eton
Eton recently joined our team from Operations Management with Aramark higher education. Eton’s positivity and experience is a welcome addition to our culinary team. During the COVID-19 shutdown, Eton enjoyed spending quality time with his fiancé and jogged many miles.
Matthew
Matthew is the constant force behind the scenes in the PC kitchen as the master of inventory and process. Matthew believes in the power of laughter and positivity and practices this each and every day. Tremendously creative, Matt has most recently taken up oil painting. Of the many talents Matt possesses, he generously shares his experiences with the PC community through CHOP FM and guidance to the adventurous boarders on the paint ball fields. During the COVID-19 shutdown, Matthew took photography lessons.
Sharmalee
Sharmalee, who is as lovely as her name, is the most recent addition to the PC culinary team, joining us from Business Dining Operations with Aramark. Cooking for PC’s diverse boarding community is a task Sharma has gladly accepted. Building relationships through the love of food, Sharma’s natural talent shines through in her delicious meals. During the COVID-19 shutdown, Sharmalee spent quality time with her family, learned how to build a stronger immune system, and brought inner peace through meditation.
